The Whittier Narrows Equestrian Center is a premier, 20-acre public horse care and riding facility operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. The expansive facility is equipped with over 180 fully upgraded horse care units, including seven barns housing up to 200 horse stalls and personal tack rooms. For training and exercise, riders have access to four distinct arenas and five round pens. Situated directly south of the San Gabriel River Trail and adjacent to Blackwill Equestrian Park, the center provides immediate connection to miles of public riding paths, including portions of the historic Juan Bautista De Anza National Historic Trail. On-site support structures like a modern equestrian office, storage lockers, wash racks, and security lighting complete this top-tier recreational hub.
The facility adjusts its schedule during the winter months to account for shorter daylight hours:
Spring and Summer (March 1 – October 31): Open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM. On-site restrooms are open from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
Fall and Winter (November 1 – February 28): Daily hours shift earlier, operating from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On-site restrooms close at 4:30 PM.
