The California Thoroughbred Breeders Association is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and encouragement of Thoroughbred breeding and racing within the state. Established in 1937, it serves as the official certifying agency and registry for all California-bred horses, ensuring they meet the specific eligibility requirements for state-restricted racing events. Beyond its registration duties, the association manages and distributes millions of dollars in annual incentive awards to support local breeders, stallion owners, and horse owners. It also produces respected industry publications and co-sponsors premier bloodstock sales and racing events to promote the overall economic strength and vitality of California's equine industry.
